2007 Norco Shore preview

2007 Norco Shore 1 (Marzocchi option)

A while back, I put together a quick overview of the 2007 Norco lineup and it’s a good introduction to some of the highlights (for me) of this year’s lineup. I’m going to use this space to take a closer look at the 2007 Norco Shore 1, which I’ll be riding on the Shore (!), up at Whistler, and a few other places around the province. And while the bikes haven’t arrived yet (November 2006), I figured it’s as good a time as any to give you a sneak peak at what’s under the hood.

What’s new for 2007. For 2007, the most obvious change for the Shore is a new head tube, designed to shave weight while, at the same time, keeping the strength of previous models. Also new for this year is the fact that you have the option to choose between Marzocchi and a Rock Shox / Fox suspension packages. The Marz option gives you the new Roco TST R rear shock and the stellar 66RC2x while the Rock Shox option is spec’d with the new Totem up front and a DHX 5.0 in the back. Both versions give you about 180mm of rear wheel travel and 170mm (Marz) / 180mm (RS) up front.

Other highlights. As usual, Norco did a really good job with the spec list on the ‘07 Shore. It comes standard with Avid Juicy 7s (200mm / 8″ rotors), an e.13 DRS chain retention system (ie. a guide), some sweet stuff from legendary local component company Syncros, and a bunch of other high quality gear.

Some technical details. MSRP on the 2007 Norco Shore 1 is $4299 cad. The medium Shore 1 (RS) weighs in at a claimed 42lbs., which puts it right in the middle of the pack when it comes to heavy-duty freeride bikes.
