Snow + wind = deadfall
So we just received our first dump of snow for the winter and I know that some of you like to head up into the hills with your bikes for a snow day. If you do decide to head up to the Woodlot this week, make sure you’ve got plenty of warm clothes, lots of time, and low expectations.
There are between 8 and 12 inches of snow up there, and it took me an hour to get to the top of Hekyll after I headed up yesterday afternoon. When we headed down, the trail was covered with littered with fallen trees that turned the usual rip down a trail more of an interrupted hike. After we’d finished the trail, the FSRs was covered by more trees, making the going even slower.
It’s probably best to avoid the Woodlot for a while — the trees won’t be cleared any time soon and the cold and snow make for a long haul.
