Jeremiah Bishop talks with Bike Magazine about La Ruta de los Conquistadores

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the name Jeremiah Bishop, all you really need to know is that he’s one of the top cross country riders in the United States. In November of ‘06, Bishop took part in La Ruta de Los Conquistadors, an epic marathon race staged in Costa Rica, and after a couple of days was challenging for the overall lead. But heading in to the final meters of the stage, Bishop had a horrific crash and consequently spent some anxious moments under the knife in a Costa Rican hospital before returning home to convalesce. Bike Magazine sat down with the Trek rider and put together a solid interview that contains plenty of honest words from Bishop.

Anyways, the good news is that Bishop is still in one piece — although that piece is now connected by some serious hardware — and is training hard to qualify for the 2008 US Olympic team. You can follow Bishop’s progress through his website or check out Off Road to Athens for a cool look into the world of professional mountain bike racing.
