2008 Norco City and Path bikes

Well, after a couple of months where it looked like global warming was running amok in Maple Ridge, it looks like the weather is starting to take a turn for the better. If the number of people visiting the dikes and local parks is any indication, better weather means more chances for ‘regular’ people to get outside and enjoy the sights and sounds around town.

Over the past couple of years, Norco has introduced more and more bikes that cater to the casual rider, the one who rides their bike on the road and on hard-packed gravel paths. These bikes come in different configurations — different models have different wheel sizes, frame materials, and parts — that cater to particular types of riding within the ‘City and Path’ category.

Norco Comfort bikes

2008 Norco Citadel (step thru version)

The bikes in Norco’s Comfort series are among the best selling bikes at Maple Ridge Cycle. They feature fully-adjustable stems, suspension seatposts, puncture resistant tires, and city-friendly gearing. All of these elements add up to a bike that can fit almost any rider and is comfortable to boot. We can add pannier racks, fenders, kickstands, and lights at any time so you can just grab your bike and go.

All of Norco’s comfort bikes are available in step-thru versions as well (pictured above), so if you have a hard time swinging your leg over the saddle this style is something that might work for you.

MSRP: $379-$699

Norco Corsa series

2008 Norco Corsa (internal)

Norco’s ‘urban trekker’ bikes sometime get lost in the bustle of the bike catalogues and the shuffle of marketing materials, but they’re great options for the casual rider who is looking to become a part-time commuter.

The bikes in the Corsa series come with racks and fenders included, so you don’t have to worry about upgrading later and you won’t have an easy excuse to jump in the car when a light rain is starting to fall when you leave for work. Some of the Corsa models are spec’d with internally-geared hubs (pictured above), which helps keep them running smoothly in the rainy weather that we see in Maple Ridge on a pretty regular basis.

No frills, just solid bikes that hold up well and keep you rolling on your way to work or a picnic out at Pitt Lake.

MSRP: $499-$699
