Truvativ Hammerschmidt

Crankworx is in the books and we hope you all fared better than Luke, whose face had a run-in with the ground during practice for the Air DH down A-Line. Heal up Face!

Anyways, aside from featuring a bunch of the world’s top riders competing for significant amounts of cash, many industry folk use the festival to introduce new product for the upcoming season. SRAM-owned Truvativ has been working on a new crankset for the past couple years and introduced its new Hammerschmidt system last week. Basically, it’s a crank that features a planetary gear system, which means you get a drive-system that bolts onto your frame’s ICSG tabs and offers multiple gearing options while using a single ring.

Based on early media reviews, Truvativ delivers increased ground clearance and instantaneous shifts in a smartly-designed package. Look to see Hammerschmidt spec’d on a couple of Norco bikes for 2009 and more in the following year.
