Our mild summer has left a bunch of bigguns running around the woods, looking for berries and grubs. Yesterday (Wednesday), an aggressive bear was encountered at the Woodlot. Full entry »
Goldmine will need some love

8 December 2006: Goldmine was hit really hard during the latest round of snow and wind, and there are plenty of trees down on the trail. If that wasn’t enough a couple of the big bridges were taken out by deadfall, so it’s pretty tough going. Full entry »
Snow + wind = deadfall

So we just received our first dump of snow for the winter and I know that some of you like to head up into the hills with your bikes for a snow day. If you do decide to head up to the Woodlot this week, make sure you’ve got plenty of warm clothes, lots of time, and low expectations. There are between 8 and 12 inches of snow up there, and it took me an hour to get to the top of Hekyll after I headed up yesterday afternoon. Full entry »
