The brief break that follows the Sea Otter Classic ended last weekend when the first UCI World Cup DH and 4x races were held in Vigo, Spain. Tough, variable conditions during the men’s DH produced a surprise winner and kept the top pros on the edge, but it sounds like the race was relatively well-rounded. Full entry »

Alex Rankin, creator of the Earthed mountain bike films, has spliced together interview footage with coverage from the World Cup races to create a cool, two part documentary that follows Steve Peat and Nathan Rennie around the world during the 2006 season. I love watching mountain bike race videos because everything happens at high speed; whether it’s a flick about xc racers like the stellar Off Road to Athens or one that looks at the highlights from the last World Cup DH season, these shows offer an intensity that isn’t always found in the more hey bro freeride films.
